Today is Saturday, which happens to be our free day here in
Chile. I was most excited about finally getting a chance to sleep in. Woke up
at around noon and got ready for the first time without being exhausted. About
an hour later, a whole group of us went down the area by the beach and the
casino and looked for food. I ate at a hamburger place, which I chose because I
saw that the hamburgers that they brought out were as big as the plate. So I
got “agua con gas” and a burger with guacamole and tomatoes, which was very
good. I could barely finish the whole thing even though I had not eaten at all
that day yet. After that a few of us went to the casino just to see the inside
since we cannot go in a casino for another 2 years back home. It was very impressive. I think the bathrooms
were the fanciest I have seen yet here in Chile. We then walked along the
boardwalk to see the shops. They were more like stands. They all sold
interesting things: some touristy things, jewelry, clothes, handmade crafts,
etc. No one there really spoke English at all so it was interesting trying to
communicate but it worked out. We then
went to go touch the Pacific Ocean (pictured below), just to say that we did. A
good finish to the day was the ice cream and the nice walk back to the hotel.
Until tomorrow…
