So, today we had an early start. Up at 7 and out at 8. The breakfast
was pretty good. There was lots of bread and marmalade and really good mango
juice. Then we took the city bus which was definitely an experience. Holding on
to the overhead bars was a necessity to say the least. Those crazy drivers.
Loco! We got off at the University. The view was amazing (pictured below). We
toured the university with the help of some students. I can't get over how good
their English is. We then attended an interesting lecture about Chile's
economy. We learned about its industries and some of its potential problems. We
also learned about the inflation and deflation of the Chilean peso and other
South American currencies. The man who taught us was very intelligent and could
answer everyone's questions. After that, we ate a "wonderful" lunch
at the cafeteria. It made the perch and market taste good. We then took a bus
of Valparaiso. The city was very beautiful and right on the water. It is
pictured below. The open sky museum was sort of an outdoor gallery of different
things painted on the buildings. It overlooked the entire city of Valparaiso
and was awesome to look at. walking around the city, we had a pack of stray dogs following us the entire time. It was pretty funny. After that we all had our first empanada. 10/10
would eat again. I got corn, beef, and cheese. The bakery next door also had
very good baked goods. After that, we all went salsa dancing, which went very
interesting. I am very uncoordinated when it comes to dancing, but I tried and
it was still lots of fun. Much more complicated than American dances. After a
long day we finally made it back to the hotel. Until tomorrow…
